General questions
What does Summit Courts do?
Summit Courts designs and builds residential sport courts in Montana: pickleball, tennis, basketball and multi-sport courts outdoors, indoor courts in shops, barns, garages and home gyms, plus resurfacing and repair.
Where does Summit Courts work?
We serve Big Sky and the Yellowstone Club, Bozeman and the Gallatin Valley, Whitefish and Flathead Lake, Missoula and the Bitterroot, and Livingston and Paradise Valley. Ask us about other Montana locations.
When is the outdoor court building season in Montana?
Outdoor courts in Montana are generally built from about April through October. Acrylic court coatings need warm temperatures to cure, so surfacing happens in the warm months.
How do I reserve a spring 2027 build slot?
Submit the reservation form. We'll follow up to schedule a consultation and site visit, then send a written proposal. A slot is held once you approve the proposal and pay the deposit described in it.
Is the deposit refundable?
Deposit terms, including any refund conditions, are written into your proposal and agreement before you pay. Nothing is charged by submitting the reservation form.
Can you install a court this winter?
Yes, indoors. Indoor modular tile courts in shops, barns, garages and home gyms can be installed year-round, including this winter. Outdoor courts are scheduled for the warm season.
How much does a backyard sport court cost in Montana?
Based on 2026 Montana market pricing, typical residential starting ranges are about $25,000–$50,000 for a pickleball court, $30,000–$80,000 for a basketball or multi-sport court, $80,000–$150,000 for a full tennis court, and $6,000–$15,000 for resurfacing. These are estimates, not quotes. Your price depends on your site.
What surface should I choose: acrylic or modular tile?
Acrylic over concrete gives a classic hard-court feel and can be cushioned for comfort. Modular tile drains quickly, can be installed over a suitable base, and is the usual choice for indoor courts. We'll recommend a system based on your site, climate exposure and how you play.
How do Montana winters affect an outdoor court?
Freeze-thaw cycles, snow and meltwater stress the base and slab, and high-elevation sun fades coatings. Good courts here start with proper grading, drainage, base depth and slab design, plus a plan for snow storage.
Do I need a permit for a backyard court?
It depends on your city or county, and on HOA or community design rules. We'll help identify what's required for your property and coordinate approvals as part of the project.
Can you work with my builder, architect or property manager?
Yes. We actively work with builders, architects and property managers, and offer a referral program for partners. See the Partners page.
Is Summit Courts a new company?
Yes. Summit Courts is a new, founder-led Montana company. We're upfront about that, and we focus on careful planning, clear written proposals and responsive communication.
Are you licensed and insured?
Montana requires construction contractors to hold a Department of Labor & Industry construction contractor license. Our license and insurance details are listed on our Contact page.
Pickleball Courts
How much does a backyard pickleball court cost in Montana?

How much space do I need for a pickleball court?

Indoor Courts
Can I put a pickleball court in my shop or barn?
Often, yes. If the space has a level concrete floor, enough length and width, and adequate ceiling height, modular sport tile can create an indoor court. We confirm fit during a site visit.
Can indoor courts be installed in winter?
Yes. Indoor modular tile courts don't depend on outdoor temperatures, so they can be installed year-round, including this winter.
How much ceiling height does an indoor pickleball court need?
Higher is better for lobs. We'll measure your space and tell you honestly how it will play before you commit.
Resurfacing & Repair
How much does court resurfacing cost in Montana?
Residential court resurfacing in Montana typically starts around $6,000–$15,000 depending on court size and condition, based on 2026 market pricing. This is an estimate, not a quote.
How often should an outdoor court be resurfaced?
It depends on use, sun exposure and climate. Many outdoor acrylic courts are resurfaced every several years. We'll inspect your court and give an honest recommendation.
When can resurfacing be done in Montana?
Acrylic coatings need warm, dry weather, so resurfacing is done in the warm months, roughly late spring through early fall.
More about resurfacing & repair
Estimates only, not a quote. Ranges reflect typical residential pricing published in the Montana market and national cost guides as of 2026. Your price depends on site work, access, elevation, surface system and options like fencing and lighting.
